Job Brief

The Residence Life Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering a positive living environment within secondary school and college dormitories, group homes, or similar establishments. This position involves coordinating resident activities, ensuring facility maintenance, and providing support to residents in problem-solving situations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in student affairs, excellent communication skills, and experience in community building within residential settings.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement engaging activities and events for residents to promote community involvement and enhance the overall living experience.
  • Manage the order of supplies and assess the need for maintenance, repairs, and furnishings in resident facilities.
  • Maintain accurate household records, including room assignments, occupancy reports, and incident documentation.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for residents, providing support and guidance while addressing any concerns or conflicts.
  • Facilitate workshops and programs aimed at personal development, conflict resolution, and community safety.
  • Collaborate with counseling and support services to refer residents to appropriate resources as needed.
  • Conduct regular inspections of residential facilities to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.
  • Assist in training and supervising resident assistants and volunteers to ensure effective support for the residential community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Student Affairs, Education, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in residence life, student housing, or community management preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to mediate conflicts effectively.
  • Proficiency in administrative tasks, including record-keeping and report generation.
  • Experience in program planning and event coordination within a residential setting.
  • Knowledge of crisis management protocols and resources available for student support.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the role.
