Job Brief
We are seeking a detail-oriented Repossessor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for locating and notifying customers of delinquent accounts through various communication methods. This role involves soliciting payments, maintaining accurate records, and initiating repossession proceedings when necessary. A strong background in collections, customer service, and effective communication skills are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Locate customers with delinquent accounts using a variety of communication tools, including mail, phone calls, and personal visits.
- Notify customers of overdue payments and solicit timely payment to rectify their accounts.
- Receive and post payments to customer accounts accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare and maintain statements for the credit department in cases of non-response from customers.
- Initiate repossession proceedings or service disconnection as required by company policies.
- Keep detailed records of collection activities and account statuses to ensure compliance and reporting accuracy.
- Collaborate with team members and management to develop strategies for effective collections and customer communication.
- Adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines in the repossession process to protect company interests and customer rights.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in finance or business is a plus.
- Proven experience in collections, customer service, or a related field.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with customers.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Familiarity with repossession laws and regulations is preferred.
- Proficient in using collection software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record to travel for personal visits as needed.
