Job Brief
The Refractory Tile Helper plays a vital role in assisting skilled brickmasons, blockmasons, stonemasons, and tile and marble setters in various construction projects. This entry-level position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to support tradespeople by supplying materials, holding tools, and maintaining a clean work environment. Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespeople in the installation and maintenance of refractory tiles and materials.
- Supply and hold tools and materials as directed by brickmasons, blockmasons, stonemasons, or tile and marble setters.
- Prepare work areas by cleaning and organizing tools and equipment to ensure efficiency and safety.
- Follow directions and safety protocols to contribute to a safe working environment.
- Participate in the mixing and application of construction materials under the supervision of experienced masons.
- Transport materials to and from job sites as needed.
- Assist in the removal of old or damaged refractory tiles and prepare surfaces for new installations.
- Maintain an inventory of tools and materials, reporting any shortages to supervisors.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a construction or labor-related role is advantageous but not required.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Familiarity with masonry tools and materials is a plus.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials.
- Basic knowledge of safety practices in construction environments.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to various tasks as needed.
