Job Brief
The Recreational Activities Assistant will engage and support individuals in various recreational programs and activities, fostering social interaction and personal growth. This role requires strong organizational skills and creativity to design, implement, and promote diverse activities, such as arts and crafts, sports, games, music, and camping. The ideal candidate will have experience in recreational programming and a passion for enhancing community engagement through enjoyable and meaningful recreation experiences.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and execute recreational activities tailored to meet the interests and needs of participants.
- Facilitate group activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Promote programs through effective communication and outreach strategies to enhance participation.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of recreational facilities and equipment.
- Monitor and evaluate participant progress and satisfaction, adjusting activities as needed.
- Collaborate with other staff members and community organizations to coordinate events and programs.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and activity outcomes for reporting purposes.
- Provide support and guidance to volunteers and participants during activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in recreation, leisure studies, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in recreational programming or community engagement activities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with diverse groups.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in recreational settings.
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
- Proficient in using technology for activity planning and promotion.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by program schedules.
