Job Brief

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Recreation Assistant to join our team in facilitating engaging recreational activities for diverse groups within public, private, or volunteer agencies. The ideal candidate will have a passion for promoting social interaction and physical well-being through organized events such as arts and crafts, sports, games, music, dramatics, and outdoor activities. Strong communication skills, creativity, and the ability to tailor activities to meet individual needs are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and conduct recreational activities, ensuring they meet the interests and needs of participants.
  • Promote and facilitate events such as arts and crafts, sports, games, and music sessions.
  • Encourage social interaction and teamwork among participants through organized group activities.
  • Monitor participant safety during activities and provide assistance as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies in good condition, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
  • Assist in the development of promotional materials to enhance participation in recreational programs.
  • Evaluate and gather feedback on activities to improve future programming.
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to enhance the effectiveness of recreational services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in recreation or community service preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
  • Experience in organizing recreational programs or events is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in recreational settings.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills to adapt activities as needed.
