Responsibilities
- Operate computerized stenographic equipment to produce live captions for broadcasts and legal proceedings.
- Ensure accuracy and clarity of transcriptions during real-time events.
- Capture, store, and retrieve spoken information efficiently and effectively.
- Collaborate with legal professionals and broadcast teams to meet specific captioning requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of legal terminology and broadcasting standards to enhance transcription quality.
- Review and edit captions as needed to ensure compliance with accessibility guidelines.
- Utilize voice recognition technology and captioning software to optimize workflow.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in captioning technologies.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Realtime Captioner or in a similar role in legal or broadcasting environments.
- Certification from a recognized body, such as NCRA or similar, is highly desirable.
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy (minimum 225 words per minute).
- Proficiency in using computerized captioning software and equipment.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and regulations related to captioning.
