Job Brief

As a Rangelands Conservation Laborer, you will play a vital role in the preservation and enhancement of rangeland ecosystems. Under supervision, you will engage in a variety of manual labor tasks aimed at developing, maintaining, and protecting natural habitats such as forests, woodlands, wetlands, and rangelands. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for environmental conservation. Previous experience in forestry, agriculture, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in raising and transporting seedlings for reforestation and habitat restoration projects.
  • Implement pest management strategies to combat insects, pests, and diseases affecting plant life.
  • Participate in the construction of structures designed to control water flow, soil erosion, and leaching.
  • Collect and gather non-timber forestry products, including pine straw and other natural resources.
  • Maintain and operate equipment and tools used in conservation activities.
  • Conduct site assessments to monitor the health and sustainability of rangeland ecosystems.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure project objectives are met efficiently.
  • Document and report activities, observations, and results following established protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in environmental science or related fields is a plus.
  • Previous experience in conservation, forestry, agriculture, or related manual labor roles.
  • Ability to operate basic hand tools and machinery relevant to conservation tasks.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of local flora and fauna, as well as environmental conservation practices.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various project sites as required.
