Job Brief
The Ranch Hand Supervisor oversees and coordinates the daily operations of ranch activities, supervising agricultural, forestry, and aquacultural workers to ensure efficient productivity and adherence to safety protocols. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in ranch management, excellent leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of livestock care, crop cultivation, and equipment maintenance. This role requires hands-on experience in ranch operations and a commitment to fostering a collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily tasks of ranch workers and manage workflows to optimize efficiency.
- Coordinate livestock feeding, breeding, and health management programs.
- Oversee crop production activities, including planting, harvesting, and irrigation scheduling.
- Conduct regular inspections of ranch facilities and equipment to ensure safe and proper operation.
- Train and mentor ranch staff on best practices and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of livestock and crop management for reporting and analysis.
- Implement sustainable agricultural practices to enhance productivity and environmental stewardship.
- Collaborate with management to develop budgets and manage operational costs effectively.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in ranch management or agricultural supervision (3+ years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of livestock care, crop production, and equipment maintenance.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a diverse team.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Familiarity with agricultural machinery and tools; certification in equipment operation is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles and machinery safely.
- Basic understanding of financial management as it pertains to ranch operations.
