Job Brief

The Railroad Car Repair Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of mechanics, installers, and repairers within a railroad car maintenance facility. Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of mechanics, installers, and repairers to ensure timely and efficient repairs of railroad cars.
  • Implement maintenance schedules and monitor progress to ensure high-quality repair work.
  • Conduct inspections and diagnostics to identify mechanical issues and determine necessary repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in all repair activities.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members on best practices and repair techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and inventory management.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding service recommendations and repair progress.
  • Collaborate with management to develop strategies for improving operational efficiency and reducing downtime.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in mechanical repair or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in railroad car maintenance and repair, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and safety protocols related to railroad operations.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for customer interactions and team collaboration.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry software and maintenance tracking systems.
  • Certification in railroad safety practices and maintenance standards is a plus.
