Job Brief
As a Rail Signal Mechanic, you will be responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of electric gate crossings, signals, signal equipment, track switches, section lines, and intercommunication systems within a railroad system. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in railway signaling operations and possess essential troubleshooting skills. Responsibilities
- Install and test electric gate crossings and railroad signal systems to ensure optimal functionality.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on signaling equipment and track switches.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to rail signals and communication systems.
- Repair or replace faulty components in signal control systems and related equipment.
- Collaborate with other railroad personnel to improve safety and efficiency in operations.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of maintenance activities and inspections.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and standards while performing work on the railroad system.
- Provide support in emergency situations, ensuring rapid response to signal failures or malfunctions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in electronics or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Rail Signal Mechanic or in a similar role within the railroad industry.
- In-depth knowledge of railroad signaling systems, electric gate crossings, and communication technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and industry regulations related to rail operations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various work sites as required.
