Job Brief
The Radio and Television Technical Director is responsible for leading the production and direction of stage, television, radio, video, or film projects focused on entertainment, information, or instructional content. This role involves making critical creative decisions, including script interpretation, actor selection, set design, sound management, special effects coordination, and choreography. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in media production, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of technical direction in the broadcasting industry.
Responsibilities
- Direct live and recorded productions, ensuring high-quality audio and visual output.
- Collaborate with producers, writers, and other creative staff to interpret scripts and develop production concepts.
- Oversee the selection and management of actors, guests, and crew members for projects.
- Design and coordinate set layouts, lighting, and sound to enhance production quality.
- Implement and manage special effects, ensuring they align with the creative vision.
- Utilize industry-standard software and equipment to facilitate production processes.
- Conduct rehearsals and provide direction to performers to achieve desired performances.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during productions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Broadcasting, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Technical Director or in a similar role within the media industry.
- Strong knowledge of video and audio production techniques and technology.
- Proficiency in using technical equipment, including cameras, lighting, and sound systems.
- Experience with production software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, or Avid Media Composer.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with industry trends and emerging technologies in media production.
