Job Brief
The Psychological Operations (PSYOP) or Civil Affairs Officer is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating operations that influence the emotions, beliefs, and behaviors of target audiences. This role requires a high level of expertise in psychological warfare, civil-military operations, and strategic communication. Successful candidates will possess strong analytical skills, effective interpersonal communication abilities, and experience in leading diverse teams in complex environments.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement psychological operations strategies to support military objectives and enhance mission effectiveness.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis of target audiences to identify cultural, social, and psychological factors influencing behavior.
- Collaborate with military and civilian agencies to coordinate civil affairs initiatives and humanitarian assistance programs.
- Design and disseminate information campaigns tailored to influence public perception and counter misinformation.
- Train and mentor personnel in psychological operations techniques, methodologies, and best practices.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of PSYOP and civil affairs activities through metrics and feedback mechanisms.
- Engage and build rapport with local communities to foster trust and cooperation in operational areas.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, international relations, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- Military experience as an officer in psychological operations, civil affairs, or similar tactical roles.
- Strong understanding of psychological principles, cultural dynamics, and conflict resolution strategies.
- Proven experience in strategic communication and public affairs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Proficient in data analysis and interpretation to inform decision-making processes.
- Willingness to work in high-pressure environments and adapt to rapidly changing operational conditions.
