Job Brief
The Private Branch Exchange Operator is responsible for operating telephone business systems equipment and switchboards to efficiently relay incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls. Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain telephone equipment and switchboards to facilitate seamless communication.
- Relay incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls efficiently to the appropriate personnel.
- Provide information to callers and address inquiries in a professional manner.
- Record and relay messages accurately, ensuring timely delivery to the intended recipients.
- Monitor call traffic and manage call queues to optimize service levels.
- Assist in troubleshooting basic telecommunication issues and escalate as necessary.
- Maintain accurate logs of calls and messages for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with telecommunications regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in telecommunications is a plus.
- Proven experience as a telephone operator or in a similar customer service role.
- Strong verbal communication skills with a clear and pleasant phone demeanor.
- Ability to multitask and manage call flow effectively in a busy environment.
- Familiarity with PBX systems and telecommunications software.
- Proficient in using office equipment and basic computer applications.
