As a Prescription Eyeglass Maker, you will play a critical role in the optical industry by cutting, grinding, and polishing eyeglasses and contact lenses to meet precise specifications. Responsibilities
- Cut, grind, and polish lenses for eyeglasses and contact lenses using precision lens polishers and grinders.
- Assemble and mount lenses into various frame styles, ensuring proper fit and alignment.
- Operate centerer-edgers to achieve the required lens specifications.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure lenses meet industry standards and client prescriptions.
- Maintain and calibrate optical machinery and tools for optimal performance.
- Collaborate with opticians and other optical professionals to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Stay updated with advancements in optical technology and best practices in eyewear fabrication.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in optical technology preferred.
- Proven experience as a prescription eyeglass maker or in a related optical fabrication role.
- Strong understanding of optical principles and lens types.
- Proficiency in operating optical machinery, including lens polishers and grinders.
- Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Ability to read and interpret prescriptions accurately.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and order processing.
