Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Power Wheelchair Mechanic with extensive experience in diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, and overhauling power wheelchairs and small engine equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and a thorough understanding of mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and safety of mobility devices. Proficiency in troubleshooting, electrical systems, and customer service is essential for this role.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in power wheelchairs and related mobility equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on small engines, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Overhaul and replace defective components, such as motors, batteries, and control systems.
- Test and adjust power wheelchairs to enhance performance and reliability.
- Maintain detailed records of all repairs, services, and parts used for inventory management.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations to customers regarding equipment maintenance and upgrades.
- Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and technologies to improve service efficiency.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance workshop productivity and service quality.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in mechanical engineering or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Power Wheelchair Mechanic or in a similar role with small engine repair.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical components, and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and provide exceptional service.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations related to equipment repair.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client locations as needed.
