Job Brief
The Post Tensioning Ironworker Helper assists skilled ironworkers in the installation and maintenance of post-tensioning systems used in concrete structures. This entry-level position requires a strong understanding of construction safety practices, physical stamina, and the ability to work as part of a team. Ideal candidates will possess basic knowledge of ironworking tools and techniques, along with a commitment to high-quality workmanship and adherence to project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation of post-tensioning cables and related components in concrete structures.
- Support skilled ironworkers in the setup and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Perform tasks such as cutting, bending, and tying steel reinforcement bars as directed.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Help with the preparation and cleanup of job sites to ensure efficient workflow.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks.
- Maintain tools and equipment by cleaning and reporting any defects or issues.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge in post-tensioning techniques.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of post-tensioning systems and ironworking tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 pounds).
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in the construction industry.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for travel to job sites.
