Job Brief

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse plays a critical role in providing exceptional nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical procedures. Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ health post-anesthesia to identify potential complications.
  • Develop and implement personalized nursing care plans based on patient needs and conditions.
  • Monitor and document vital signs, pain levels, and overall patient status to ensure stability during recovery.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Provide patient education on post-operative care, health maintenance, and disease prevention strategies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care and optimal recovery outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license or registration as required by state regulations.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
  • Previous experience in an acute care setting, preferably in a PACU or similar environment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient and family education.
  • Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) and nursing documentation practices.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in post-anesthesia care.
