Job Brief
The Pollution Control Technician plays a critical role in environmental protection by performing laboratory and field tests to monitor air, water, and soil quality. Under the guidance of environmental scientists or engineers, the technician investigates sources of pollution that may impact public health and ecosystems. Successful candidates will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and relevant technical expertise in environmental testing methods.
Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory and field tests to assess environmental quality and detect pollutants.
- Collect samples of gases, soil, water, and other materials for analysis.
- Analyze data to identify pollution sources and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and field testing instruments.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on testing results and environmental conditions.
- Collaborate with environmental scientists and engineers on pollution mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
- Participate in community outreach programs to educate the public on pollution issues.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience in environmental testing or laboratory procedures preferred.
- Familiarity with sampling techniques and environmental monitoring equipment.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis software.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
