Responsibilities

  • Analyze plant samples using molecular techniques to identify pathogens and pest species.

  • Collaborate with agricultural scientists and extension agents to disseminate research findings.
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments, data collection, and analysis for future reference.
  • Stay updated on the latest research and technological advancements in plant pathology.

  • Provide training and guidance to junior researchers and interns in the field of plant etiology.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Plant Pathology, Botany, or a related biological science.
  • Proven experience in plant disease research, including laboratory and fieldwork.
  • Strong knowledge of plant biology, disease cycles, and pest management practices.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, such as PCR and sequencing.
  • Excellent data analysis skills using statistical software and bioinformatics tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams and communicate effectively.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to agricultural research and biosecurity.
