Job Brief
As a Petroleum Plant Operator, you will play a critical role in the efficient operation and control of petroleum refining and processing units. This position requires a strong understanding of manifold and pumping systems, as well as the ability to gauge and test oil in storage tanks. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in regulating the flow of oil into pipelines, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor petroleum refining and processing units to maintain optimal production levels.
- Control manifold and pumping systems to ensure efficient oil transport and processing.
- Gauge and test oil in storage tanks to verify quality and adherence to specifications.
- Regulate the flow of oil into pipelines, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment to prevent downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
- Document operational data and report any anomalies to senior operators or supervisors.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
- Adhere to safety regulations and environmental guidelines to maintain compliance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Petroleum Plant Operator or in a similar role within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong understanding of petroleum refining processes and equipment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the petroleum industry.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot advanced control systems and instrumentation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Certification in hazardous materials handling is a plus.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
