Job Brief
As a Petroleum Geologist, you will leverage your expertise in geology, physics, and mathematics to explore and analyze the Earth’s composition and structure. Your primary responsibilities will include identifying potential oil, gas, and mineral deposits, as well as addressing environmental challenges such as waste disposal and land reclamation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of geological principles, and the ability to utilize advanced technology for exploration.
Responsibilities
- Conduct geological surveys and field studies to analyze the Earth’s physical properties.
- Utilize geological data and mapping software to identify oil and gas reservoirs.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to assess extraction feasibility and environmental impact.
- Interpret seismic data and geological models to support exploration and production activities.
- Monitor and evaluate geological conditions to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on geological findings and recommendations.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in geological technology and methodologies.
- Provide expertise in mineralogy, paleontology, and stratigraphy as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience in petroleum geology or a related area, typically 3-5 years.
- Strong knowledge of geological mapping, stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
- Familiarity with geophysical techniques and software used in exploration.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication skills for reporting and presenting findings.
- Professional certifications such as Registered Professional Geologist (RPG) are a plus.
