Job Brief
As a Penal Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and security within penal and rehabilitative institutions. Responsibilities
- Enforce rules and regulations to maintain safety and order within penal facilities.
- Monitor inmate behavior and report any suspicious activities or violations.
- Conduct regular security checks and inspections of facilities and inmate areas.
- Supervise the transportation of inmates to and from various locations, ensuring their safety during transit.
- Assist in the rehabilitation efforts by providing support and guidance to inmates.
- Document incidents and prepare reports related to inmate conduct and facility security.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance with legal standards and procedures.
- Participate in training and professional development to stay current with best practices in corrections.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in criminal justice or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience in law enforcement, corrections, or a similar role is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of security protocols and emergency response procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective inmate interaction.
- Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations and manage conflicts effectively.
- Physical fitness to handle the demands of the role, including standing for long periods and responding to emergencies.
- Valid driver’s license and, where applicable, law enforcement certifications.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
