Job Brief

The Pediatric Dietitian is responsible for planning and conducting comprehensive food service and nutritional programs aimed at promoting health and controlling disease in children. This role requires expertise in pediatric nutrition, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical dietetics and a passion for improving the dietary habits and health outcomes of pediatric patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate the dietary needs of pediatric patients based on medical conditions, age, and developmental stage.
  • Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans that align with health objectives and promote healthy eating habits.
  • Conduct nutrition education sessions for children and their families, emphasizing the importance of balanced diets and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Monitor and track patient progress, adjusting nutrition plans as necessary to achieve optimal health outcomes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for pediatric patients.
  • Supervise and train dietary staff in food service operations and nutritional best practices.
  • Stay updated on research and trends in pediatric nutrition to enhance program effectiveness and service delivery.
  • Conduct nutritional research and contribute to publications or presentations in the field of pediatric dietetics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in pediatric dietetics or clinical nutrition.
  • Strong knowledge of nutritional guidelines, dietary interventions, and food service management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and nutrition assessment software.
  • Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is a plus.
