As a Parole Officer, you will play a crucial role in the rehabilitation of law offenders transitioning from custody to community supervision. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of parolees to identify rehabilitation needs and risks.
- Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans that include education, employment, and treatment options.
- Monitor parolee compliance with court-ordered conditions, including attendance at counseling and job training programs.
- Provide ongoing support and resources to help parolees adjust to community life and avoid recidivism.
- Collaborate with social service agencies, community organizations, and law enforcement to ensure holistic support for offenders.
- Document interactions and maintain accurate records of parolee progress and compliance.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for parole board reviews and hearings.
- Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations impacting parole and rehabilitation services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience working in a correctional setting, social services, or a related role is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse populations.
- Ability to assess situations and make informed decisions regarding rehabilitation strategies.
- Knowledge of community resources and programs available for offenders.
- Familiarity with case management software and documentation practices.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for home visits and community meetings.
- Certification as a Parole Officer or similar designation is a plus.
