Job Brief

As an Occupational Therapy Aide, you will support the occupational therapy team by performing delegated tasks under the close supervision of an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing treatment rooms, assisting with patient care, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment. Ideal candidates should possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for helping patients improve their daily living skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for occupational therapy sessions.
  • Assist occupational therapists in implementing treatment plans for patients.
  • Support patients with therapeutic activities and exercises as directed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of therapy equipment and workspaces.
  • Document patient progress and report observations to the occupational therapist.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control measures.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients during therapy sessions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare or therapy preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare or therapy setting is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus.
  • Physical ability to assist patients with mobility and transport.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
