Job Brief

The Orthopaedic Physician Assistant will provide exceptional healthcare services under the supervision of a physician, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. This role involves conducting comprehensive physical examinations, developing treatment plans, counseling patients, and in certain cases, prescribing medications. Ideal candidates will have graduated from an accredited physician assistant program and possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and assessments for patients with orthopaedic conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures, such as joint injections and aspirations, as needed.
  • Provide patient education and counseling regarding treatment options and rehabilitation exercises.
  • Prescribe medications in accordance with state regulations and practice guidelines.
  • Document patient care activities and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Assist in surgical procedures and provide post-operative care to ensure optimal recovery.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in orthopaedic medicine and participate in ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current certification and licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of orthopaedic medicine and surgical procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Experience in orthopaedics or related field preferred but not required for new graduates.
