Job Brief
As an Orthodontic Technician, you will play a crucial role in the dental healthcare team, specializing in the construction, repair, and adjustment of orthodontic appliances. This position requires a keen eye for detail and proficiency in using dental technology to create custom dental devices, ensuring optimal patient comfort and satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have experience in fabricating full or partial dentures and a solid understanding of orthodontic principles, materials, and techniques.
Responsibilities
- Construct and repair various types of orthodontic appliances, including braces, retainers, and mouthguards.
- Utilize CAD/CAM technology and 3D printing to produce precise dental models and devices.
- Collaborate with orthodontists to ensure accurate specifications and patient needs are met.
- Maintain and sterilize equipment and tools in compliance with dental safety regulations.
- Conduct quality control checks on finished products to ensure they meet industry standards.
- Stay updated on advancements in orthodontic technology and techniques to enhance service delivery.
- Document and maintain detailed records of all fabrication and repair processes.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians on best practices and techniques.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited orthodontic technician program preferred.
- Proven experience in orthodontics, including hands-on experience in denture fabrication and appliance repairs.
- Strong knowledge of dental materials and their applications in orthodontics.
- Familiarity with dental software and technologies, including CAD/CAM systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity for precise craftsmanship.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with dental professionals.
- Certification from a recognized dental board is an advantage.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while managing multiple tasks.
