Job Brief

As an Ordinary Seaman, you will play a vital role in the safe operation of our vessels. This position requires standing watch to monitor the navigational path, performing maintenance on shipboard equipment, and assisting with cargo handling operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong teamwork skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow directives from the captain and officers. Relevant experience and certifications are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Stand watch to monitor for obstructions and hazards in the vessel’s path.
  • Measure water depth and assist with navigation tasks using equipment as directed.
  • Operate emergency equipment under the guidance of the captain, mate, or pilot.
  • Break out, rig, overhaul, and store cargo-handling gear and rigging equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance to preserve the painted surfaces of the vessel.
  • Maintain and inspect line and ship equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Participate in safety drills and environmental compliance activities as required.

Requirements

  • Valid government-issued Ordinary Seaman certification.
  • Tankerman certification required for work on liquid-carrying vessels.
  • Basic knowledge of shipboard operations and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and follow directions.
  • Strong physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor on deck.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and on irregular schedules.
