Job Brief
We are seeking a dedicated Orchard Worker to join our agricultural team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for manually planting, cultivating, and harvesting a variety of fruits, nuts, and vegetables. This hands-on role requires proficiency in using hand tools, as well as knowledge of soil management, pest control, and crop maintenance. The Orchard Worker will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality yield and sustainability within our orchard operations.
Responsibilities
- Manually plant and cultivate fruits, nuts, and vegetables using hand tools such as shovels, trowels, and shears.
- Harvest crops efficiently while adhering to quality standards and safety protocols.
- Till soil, apply fertilizers, and manage soil health to promote optimal crop growth.
- Transplant, weed, thin, and prune crops to enhance yield and quality.
- Apply pesticides and other agricultural chemicals as directed to protect crops from pests and diseases.
- Clean, grade, sort, pack, and load harvested products for distribution.
- Construct trellises, repair fences and farm buildings, and assist with irrigation activities as necessary.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition to ensure safety and efficiency.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Orchard Worker or similar role in agriculture.
- Strong knowledge of fruit and vegetable cultivation practices.
- Ability to operate hand tools and machinery safely and effectively.
- Understanding of soil health, pest management, and crop maintenance techniques.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of agricultural safety practices and regulations.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
