Job Brief
The Orchard Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of orchard management, including planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects of fruit production. This role requires a strong background in agricultural sciences, excellent leadership skills, and experience in managing farm operations. The Orchard Manager will engage in supervising planting, cultivating, and harvesting, while also handling financial and marketing activities to ensure sustainable and profitable operations.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement effective orchard management strategies to maximize yield and quality of fruit production.
- Supervise and train farm workers, ensuring adherence to safety and operational protocols.
- Manage day-to-day orchard operations, including planting, pruning, and harvesting activities.
- Conduct soil and crop health assessments, applying knowledge of agricultural practices to enhance growth.
- Oversee pest management and disease control efforts to maintain orchard health and productivity.
- Develop and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and marketing strategies for fruit sales.
- Monitor and evaluate crop performance, making adjustments to practices as necessary to meet production goals.
- Maintain records and documentation related to crop yields, labor costs, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Horticulture, or a related field.
- Proven experience in orchard management or agricultural operations, with a strong understanding of fruit cultivation practices.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and motivate a team.
- Knowledge of pest management, soil health, and sustainable farming practices.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in financial management and marketing within the agricultural sector.
- Ability to operate and maintain agricultural equipment and machinery.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
