Job Brief

As an Optometry Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of an optometry practice. This position involves performing essential administrative and clinical duties under the supervision of an optometrist. Responsibilities

  • Schedule patient appointments and manage the optometry calendar efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist optometrists in conducting eye examinations and preparing examination rooms.
  • Take and record patient vital signs and medical histories accurately.
  • Administer medications and perform diagnostic tests as directed by the optometrist.
  • Process billing and coding for insurance claims and patient payments.
  • Educate patients on eye care procedures and proper use of optical products.
  • Support inventory management by ordering and restocking supplies as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in optometry or healthcare preferred.
  • Proven experience as an optometry assistant or in a similar healthcare role.
  • Familiarity with medical billing, coding, and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with patients in a professional manner.
  • Basic knowledge of eye care products and procedures is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certification in CPR or First Aid is advantageous.
