Job Brief
The Optical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and testing of optical systems and components. This role requires a strong understanding of optical design software, along with proficiency in optical testing methods and instrumentation. Ideal candidates will have a background in physics or engineering, with hands-on experience in developing innovative optical solutions for various applications, including telecommunications, imaging systems, and laser technology.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize optical systems using advanced optical design software such as Zemax or Code V.
- Conduct experiments and tests to evaluate the performance and reliability of optical components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate optical systems into broader engineering projects.
- Analyze and troubleshoot optical system performance issues and implement effective solutions.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in optical technologies to influence product development.
- Support the manufacturing process by providing optical design insights and guidance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in optical design and testing, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Familiarity with optical simulation software and laboratory testing equipment.
- Understanding of geometrical optics, wave optics, and photonics principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in teams.
- Strong communication skills for presenting technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with optical coatings and fabrication processes is an advantage.
