Job Brief
As an Optical Dispenser, you will play a crucial role in the optical retail environment, focusing on designing, measuring, fitting, and adapting lenses and frames based on clients’ optical prescriptions. Your expertise will assist customers in selecting the perfect frames and caring for contact lenses. The ideal candidate will have experience in the optical field, possess excellent customer service skills, and demonstrate a strong attention to detail to ensure accurate fitting and adjustments for optimal vision performance.
Responsibilities
- Design and fit lenses and frames according to written optical prescriptions or specifications.
- Assist clients with inserting, removing, and caring for contact lenses.
- Counsel clients in selecting eyeglass frames that complement their facial features and optical needs.
- Measure customers for eyeglass size, ensuring accurate alignment with facial and eye metrics.
- Prepare detailed work orders for the optical laboratory, specifying grinding and mounting instructions for lenses.
- Verify the accuracy of finished lens spectacles, ensuring they meet client specifications.
- Adjust frames and lens positions to achieve a comfortable and precise fit for clients.
- Shape or reshape frames as necessary to accommodate client preferences and optical requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in optical dispensing preferred.
- Proven experience as an Optical Dispenser or similar role in an optical retail setting.
- Strong understanding of optical prescriptions, lens types, and frame styles.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with optical laboratory processes and equipment.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced retail environment.
