Job Brief
As an Ophthalmic Technologist, you will play a vital role in assisting ophthalmologists by performing essential clinical functions in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Responsibilities
- Administer comprehensive eye examinations under the supervision of ophthalmologists.
- Perform diagnostic tests including visual acuity assessments, tonometry, and retinal imaging.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and medical equipment for patient visits.
- Educate patients on the use and care of corrective lenses and other eye care products.
- Assist in the administration of prescribed eye medications and treatments.
- Document patient histories and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Support ophthalmologists during procedures and surgeries, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Stay updated on advancements in ophthalmology technology and practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) is preferred.
- Proven experience in an ophthalmic or healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and common eye diseases.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
- Proficient in using ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
