Job Brief
The Oil Well Fishing Tool Technician plays a crucial role in the oil and gas industry by operating specialized equipment to enhance oil flow from production wells and to retrieve stuck pipes, casing, tools, or obstructions from drilling wells. Responsibilities
- Operate fishing tools and other equipment to recover stuck pipes and tools from drilling wells.
- Conduct thorough assessments of well conditions and develop strategies for effective fishing operations.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on fishing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with drilling engineers and field personnel to coordinate fishing operations and troubleshoot issues.
- Document all fishing operations, including data collection and reporting on equipment performance and well conditions.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Provide technical support and training to junior technicians and field personnel as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in oil and gas operations is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Fishing Tool Technician or similar role in the oil and gas industry.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with fishing tools and well intervention techniques.
- Valid certification in relevant safety practices (e.g., H2S Awareness, First Aid, etc.).
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments and under varying weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically under pressure.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
