Job Brief
As an Obstetrical Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to expectant mothers throughout their pregnancy, labor, and postpartum periods. You will assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement personalized nursing care plans, and maintain detailed medical records. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, empathy, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. A valid nursing license or registration is required, along with experience in obstetrics and gynecology.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ health status and needs related to pregnancy and childbirth.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans for obstetrical patients.
- Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients within the obstetric unit.
- Monitor and document patient progress and responses to treatment, ensuring accuracy in medical records.
- Provide education and counseling to patients on health maintenance, prenatal care, and disease prevention.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to facilitate optimal patient outcomes during labor and delivery.
- Advise patients on postpartum recovery and newborn care, including breastfeeding support.
- Participate in case management and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams.
Requirements
- Active and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Proven experience in obstetric nursing or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of obstetrical procedures, prenatal care, and labor management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively educate patients and families.
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is a plus.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems for accurate documentation.
