Job Brief
The Natural Resources Technician plays a crucial role in the conservation and management of soil, water, forests, and other natural resources. This position requires hands-on experience in data collection and analysis to monitor the health and characteristics of forest tracts. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and the ability to collaborate with conservation scientists and forestry teams to enhance wildlife habitats and implement fire prevention strategies.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance for the conservation and management of soil, water, and forest resources.
- Compile and analyze data regarding forest tract size, content, and ecological condition.
- Train and lead forest workers in forest propagation techniques and fire prevention and suppression methods.
- Assist conservation scientists in the management and improvement of rangelands and wildlife habitats.
- Conduct field surveys to assess the health and sustainability of natural resources.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on findings related to natural resource management.
- Implement best practices for sustainable land use and resource conservation.
- Collaborate with environmental stakeholders to promote effective conservation strategies.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in natural resource management or a similar technical role.
- Strong knowledge of ecological principles and conservation practices.
- Familiarity with data collection and analysis techniques specific to natural resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Ability to work in diverse outdoor environments and conduct fieldwork.
- Certifications in first aid, CPR, or wildfire suppression are a plus.
- Proficient in using GIS software and other relevant technical tools for data analysis.
