Job Brief

As a Narcotics Investigator, you will conduct thorough investigations into suspected violations of federal, state, or local drug laws to prevent and solve narcotics-related crimes. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders. Candidates should possess a background in criminal justice or a related field, along with relevant experience in investigations or law enforcement.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive investigations of narcotics-related incidents, ensuring adherence to legal and procedural guidelines.
  • Gather and analyze evidence, including surveillance footage, witness statements, and forensic data.
  • Collaborate with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to share intelligence and resources.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation of investigations, findings, and recommendations for prosecution.
  • Participate in undercover operations and controlled buys when necessary to gather evidence.
  • Testify in court as an expert witness regarding findings and investigative procedures.
  • Stay current on narcotics trends, law changes, and emerging drug threats to inform investigative strategies.
  • Engage in community outreach to educate the public about the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in law enforcement or investigative roles, preferably in narcotics investigations.
  • Strong understanding of narcotics laws and regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Proficient in investigative techniques, surveillance methods, and evidence collection.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and courtroom testimony.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build relationships with law enforcement agencies.
  • Certification in law enforcement or specialized narcotics training is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
