Job Brief
The Motion Picture Projectionist is responsible for setting up and operating motion picture projection and sound reproduction equipment to ensure high-quality film presentations. This role requires proficiency in handling various projection systems and sound technology, along with a keen attention to detail to maintain the integrity of the cinematic experience. The ideal candidate should have experience in a theater or film environment, possess strong technical skills, and demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities
- Set up, test, and operate various motion picture projection equipment, ensuring optimal image and sound quality.
- Maintain and troubleshoot projection and sound systems, performing routine checks and repairs as needed.
- Coordinate with theater staff to schedule film showings and manage the timely start of screenings.
- Monitor film playback for any discrepancies and resolve issues quickly to minimize disruptions during screenings.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of projection areas and equipment.
- Assist in managing inventory of film reels and projection supplies.
- Stay updated on new projection technologies and techniques to enhance the viewing experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications are a plus.
- Proven experience as a motion picture projectionist or in a similar role within the film industry.
- Strong knowledge of film and digital projection systems, including DCP and 35mm formats.
- Familiarity with sound reproduction equipment and audio mixing techniques.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
