Job Brief
The Missile and Missile Checkout Technician plays a critical role in supporting military operations by targeting, firing, and maintaining advanced weapon systems, including missiles, torpedoes, and associated equipment. This position requires expertise in testing, inspecting, and storing ammunition while ensuring the operational readiness of weapons systems in ground and naval combat environments. Responsibilities
- Perform targeting and firing procedures for missile systems and ensure proper operation during military exercises.
- Conduct thorough inspections and testing of missiles, torpedoes, and related ammunition to verify functionality and safety.
- Execute preventive maintenance and routine checks on weapons systems and associated electronic equipment.
- Establish and maintain effective radio and wire communications for operational coordination during missions.
- Operate and troubleshoot weapons targeting, firing, and launch computer systems to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Document maintenance activities and report discrepancies or malfunctions to senior personnel for resolution.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while handling hazardous materials and operating weapon systems.
- Participate in training programs to stay current with the latest technologies and operational techniques in missile systems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or military training in a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience working with missile systems, torpedoes, or similar weaponry in a military or defense environment.
- Strong understanding of electronic and mechanical systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and standard operating procedures in handling munitions and weapons systems.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and operational units.
- Current certifications in hazardous materials handling and weapon systems operation are a plus.
- Ability to work in high-pressure situations and adapt to rapidly changing mission requirements.
