Job Brief
As a Metallurgical Engineer, you will evaluate materials and develop innovative machinery and processes to manufacture high-performance materials that meet specialized design and performance specifications. You will leverage your expertise in materials science to explore new applications for existing materials and contribute to the advancement of composite materials, metals, ceramics, and polymers. This role requires a strong foundation in metallurgical principles, analytical skills, and hands-on experience in materials testing and processing.
Responsibilities
- Analyze material properties and performance to develop new manufacturing processes.
- Conduct experiments and tests to evaluate the characteristics of metals, alloys, ceramics, and polymers.
- Collaborate with design engineers to ensure materials meet project specifications and regulatory standards.
- Develop and optimize processes for welding, casting, and other material fabrication techniques.
- Research and implement innovative solutions for material challenges in production.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards during material handling and processing.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in material science and engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in materials evaluation and processing techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software and materials simulation tools.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Materials Engineer) are a plus.
