Job Brief
As a Memorial Mason, you will be responsible for constructing and maintaining stone structures that honor the memory of loved ones. This role requires expertise in laying stone, brick, and concrete, as well as the ability to work with various materials to create memorials, gravestones, and other commemorative features. Ideal candidates will have a background in masonry, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Construct stone memorials, including headstones, monuments, and memorial walls, ensuring quality craftsmanship.
- Utilize various masonry techniques to build piers, walls, and abutments that meet design specifications.
- Lay walks, curbstones, and special masonry for vats, tanks, and floors, maintaining high standards of durability and aesthetics.
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to accurately execute projects.
- Perform repairs and restoration work on existing memorials and structures as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in masonry work.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their vision and provide expert recommendations on design and materials.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, ensuring safety and efficiency on the job site.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mason, preferably in memorial or decorative masonry.
- Strong knowledge of masonry materials, techniques, and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy materials.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Relevant certifications in masonry or construction preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clients and team members.
