Job Brief
The Medical Transcriber is responsible for accurately transcribing medical reports dictated by physicians and healthcare practitioners. This role requires proficiency in medical terminology and attention to detail to ensure the high-quality documentation of patient encounters, diagnostic imaging studies, and operative reports. Candidates should possess strong typing skills, familiarity with transcription software, and the ability to edit and format medical documents for review and signature.
Responsibilities
- Transcribe medical dictations from various electronic devices, including office visits, emergency room visits, and diagnostic imaging studies.
- Edit and format transcribed reports, ensuring clarity and accuracy in medical terminology.
- Translate abbreviations and medical jargon into fully understandable text for patient records.
- Return finalized reports in both printed and electronic formats for physician review and signature.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive patient information.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify dictations and resolve discrepancies.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and advancements in transcription technology.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Transcriber or in a similar role within the healthcare industry.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures.
- Proficient typing skills with a minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and transcription software.
- Certification from a recognized transcription training program is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce error-free documentation.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
