Job Brief
As a Marine Steamfitter, you will be responsible for assembling, installing, altering, and repairing pipelines or pipe systems that transport water, steam, air, or other liquids and gases. This role requires strong technical skills and experience in working with heating and cooling equipment and mechanical control systems. Responsibilities
- Assemble and install pipe systems for various marine applications, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Repair and maintain existing pipelines, addressing leaks and other malfunctions promptly.
- Modify and alter piping systems to accommodate new equipment or operational requirements.
- Install heating, cooling, and mechanical control systems, ensuring efficient operation.
- Collaborate with engineers and other professionals to design and implement effective piping solutions.
- Conduct inspections and tests on pipe systems to ensure proper functionality and adherence to standards.
- Document all work performed and maintain accurate records of repairs and installations.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to improve skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in pipefitting or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a steamfitter or in a similar role within the marine or industrial sectors.
- Strong knowledge of marine systems and piping materials, including their applications and limitations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations relevant to marine environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, NASSCO) considered an asset.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
