Job Brief

The Machinist Supervisor oversees and coordinates the daily activities of production and operating workers, ensuring efficient workflow in a manufacturing environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of machining processes, and expertise in managing teams of inspectors, precision workers, machine setters, and operators. The ideal candidate will possess a background in machining operations, with proven experience in supervising skilled labor and optimizing production efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of production teams, including machinists, fabricators, and operators.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement training programs for new and existing employees to enhance skillsets.
  • Assist in scheduling and planning production runs to meet deadlines and customer demands.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide constructive feedback to facilitate professional growth.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of production metrics, employee performance, and compliance with industry regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in machining preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in machining or manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining, tool operation, and precision measurement techniques.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage and motivate teams.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
