Job Brief
As a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), you will play a crucial role in the veterinary healthcare team by performing essential medical tests and procedures that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of animal diseases. This position requires a strong foundation in laboratory techniques, including the preparation of vaccines and serums, as well as proficiency in handling and analyzing tissue and blood samples. Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory tests, including urinalysis and complete blood counts, to diagnose animal health conditions.
- Prepare and administer vaccines and serums for disease prevention in animals.
- Collect blood samples and prepare tissue samples for analysis.
- Maintain and sterilize laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures and provide pre- and post-operative care to animals.
- Document and record test results accurately in compliance with veterinary protocols.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding care instructions and treatment plans.
- Stay updated with advancements in veterinary technology and laboratory practices.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent certification.
- Valid LVT license in the state of practice.
- Experience in a veterinary clinic or laboratory setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment and techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in record-keeping and data entry.
- Commitment to animal welfare and best practices in veterinary care.
