Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Lumber Stacker Operator to join our team. In this role, you will operate heavy machinery, including logging tractors and wheeled vehicles, to efficiently stack, load, and unload logs. The ideal candidate will possess experience in logging operations, a strong understanding of safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment. Your expertise in operating stand-alone logging machines and various accessories will be crucial to maintaining productivity and ensuring the quality of lumber processing.
Responsibilities
- Operate logging tractors and wheeled vehicles equipped with various attachments to fell trees, skid logs, and clear brush.
- Load and unload logs with precision while adhering to safety and operational protocols.
- Stack and organize logs for optimal space utilization and accessibility.
- Conduct routine maintenance on logging machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor and assess the condition of logs to maintain quality and prevent damage.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate logging operations effectively.
- Follow all safety regulations and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Document daily operations and report any issues or discrepancies to supervisors.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in logging operations preferred.
- Proven experience as a Lumber Stacker Operator or in a similar role within the logging industry.
- Strong knowledge of heavy machinery operation, including logging tractors and stand-alone logging machines.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and maintain physical stamina.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Valid driver’s license; experience with heavy and tractor-trailer trucks is a plus.
