Job Brief
The Logging Swamper plays a crucial role in supporting logging operations by assisting in the safe and efficient removal of trees and timber. This position requires hands-on experience in forestry or logging environments, strong physical stamina, and the ability to work in challenging outdoor conditions. The Logging Swamper is responsible for clearing pathways, managing equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations while collaborating with other logging team members.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the setup and maintenance of logging equipment, ensuring optimal operational efficiency.
- Clear brush and debris from logging paths to facilitate safe access for machinery and personnel.
- Support the felling and processing of trees, including the handling and transportation of logs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety and environmental regulations.
- Monitor worksite conditions and communicate any hazards or concerns to supervisors.
- Assist in loading and unloading logs onto trucks or other transportation vehicles.
- Participate in routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project goals and timelines are met efficiently.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional forestry training or certifications are a plus.
- Proven experience in logging, forestry, or a related field.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor in rugged outdoor environments.
- Familiarity with logging equipment and safety protocols.
- Basic knowledge of tree species and timber measurement techniques.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) is preferred.
- First Aid and CPR certification are advantageous.
