Job Brief
The Logging Equipment Mechanic Helper assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of vehicles, industrial machinery, and electrical and electronic equipment used in logging operations. This entry-level position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ideal candidates will possess basic knowledge of machinery and tools, along with excellent problem-solving skills to support experienced mechanics in maintaining operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of logging equipment and machinery.
- Furnish tools, materials, and supplies to support installation and repair tasks.
- Clean work areas, machines, and tools to ensure a safe and organized environment.
- Hold materials or tools for other workers, facilitating efficient workflow.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and report equipment malfunctions.
- Support skilled mechanics in disassembly and reassembly of machinery components.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks on the job site.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in mechanics is a plus.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in logging equipment.
- Experience working with hand and power tools in an industrial setting.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy equipment and tools.
- Knowledge of safety practices in maintenance and repair work.
- Valid driver’s license; forklift certification is a plus.
