Job Brief

As a Locomotive Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, adjustment, and maintenance of mobile electronics communication systems on trains and other mobile equipment. This role requires expertise in electronic systems including sound, sonar, security, navigation, and surveillance equipment. Candidates should possess a strong technical background, with a focus on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, to ensure the safe and efficient operation of electronic systems in a dynamic transportation environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electronic communication systems on locomotives and other mobile platforms.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and components to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Conduct regular inspections and tests on electronic equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technical personnel to integrate new technologies into existing systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections performed on electronic systems.
  • Adhere to industry regulations and safety protocols while performing electrical work.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in electronics or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as an electrician, with a focus on mobile electronics or similar systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic circuitry, wiring, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard safety practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
